On the occasion of the 90th anniversary celebration on September 2, 2021, the worldwide unique anniversary formation of a civilian and a military squadron: The Classic Formation from
Grenchen and the PC-7 TEAM of the Swiss Air Force.
Air Show Grenchen
Extension of the Grenchen hard-surface runway to 980 m. Installation of a DVOR (Doppler VHF rotating beacon) navigation system with higher precision. Construction of a refueling station with two refueling stations.
Granting of the 2nd federal concession for Grenchen.
Installation of VOR (VHF rotating beacon), enabling IFR instrument approaches in Grenchen.
Grenchen: Construction of the current company building with a new tower.
Big flying day of the Grenchen gliding and motorized flight group to mark the 50th anniversary of the airfield.
New construction of the Rotisserie Grenchen and startup of a tower on a wooden barrack with its own air traffic control.
Granting of the 1st federal concession for Grenchen.
Opening of the 800 × 23 m Grenchen hard-surface runway by founding member Adolf Schild.

Willi Farner comes to Grenchen and opens the aircraft factory.
Founding of the Grenchen gliding group as the pioneer of today’s SMG.
Grenchen airfield: On the initiative of Adolf Schild, the founding meeting of the AeroClub Grenchen takes place on January 31, 1931. Construction of a hangar with an arched roof and a 210 × 120 m grass runway. April 12, landing of the DeHavilland Moth CH220. May 10, inauguration of the aircraft and the runway. July 26, air show with 10,000 spectators.
